Step 11 “We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.”

Prayer is talking to God and meditation is God speaking back to you. Prayer and meditation is just a part of our 12 Steps. It’s all about being still and quieting the mind. My homegroup is based off of the 11th Step and it confuses me that so many members say that they can’t get with slowing down their mind and meditating or get their mind to be still. Just like anything else WE practice. I was invited to a meeting in another area. I took a look at the meeting directory and was amazed at they have a meditation meeting everyday, I was like wow they are practicing the program. I attend an online meditation meeting on Saturday and Sunday. One of the speakers shared that meditation would dispel the anger… Lil Andrea W.

Seeking continuous conscious contact with the God of my understanding is a central part of my recovery program.  One thing that I have learned from my spiritual awakening is that I have long had a spiritual hole in my life. I filled that hole with drugs.  I looked at drugs as my spiritual experience and journey. For me, it has become imperative to take the conscious action of making contact with my higher power and keep as little space between my God and myself so the void is never filled with my addiction . I see the steps leading up to the 11th step as the process of cleaning up and clearing out as much clutter and interference within myself and my soul as I can to make as much room inside myself for my higher power.
The more I make contact with my higher power, the more my relationship with that power grows and matures. I See that growth with the improvements in my life. I feel that growth in my love for myself and the people around me. I experience that growth with the prayers I have asking only for his will and for the power to carry that out. Donald M.

Tradition 11We need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, and films.”

I came to believe that Gods’ will for me is giving back. Because of an event going on downtown the bus did a severe detour. Feeling like I was across town, I looked up and some other members of the fellowship were getting on the bus. I heard it said that where two or more gather… so we had a meeting right their on the bus. We weren’t going to make it to the meeting and the ladies were concerned about getting their papers signed. Because the bus driver was so excited to hear what we were doing, he tried offering some assistance, (maybe a time stamped transfer would suffice). It was beautiful! Felicia
