Important Information for Facilities & Institutions Re: Coronavirus/COVID-19 & Narcotics Anonymous Meeting Closures

We would like to extend our deepest appreciation and gratitude to all of you for allowing us to be a part of the recovery journey in the lives of your clients. During this difficult time, we would like to let you know that Narcotics Anonymous in the Central Indiana Area is still functioning and accessible. In efforts to respect the local and state guidelines we have moved a lot of our already existing meetings to virtual only.

The most up to date information for the Central Indiana Area can be found on centralindianana.org. There you will find NEW online meetings in our area to help fulfill the need for meetings to those who can’t make them during this unprecedented time. For additional help, we encourage anyone seeking a virtual meeting to contact our helpline at (317) 875 5459. Closed in-person meetings as well as other meeting options can also be found via https://virtual-na.org & www.nabyphone.com

We are also looking into options for continuing Hospital & Institutions meetings with your patients using an online source. Once we have determined a way to do so, we will share with you a format of how this can be done. If you have input or requirements that need to be met please let us know. If you would like to have literature available for distribution to your clients, please visit the NA world site store https://cart-us.na.org/ or the Chicagoland Region Store https://store.chicagona.org. Both sites are still able to fill and ship orders. All literature is available to you at cost.

If you have any questions please contact us directly via the below contact form or feel free to contact me directly at the phone number below.

Thank you & please be safe!

Central Indiana Area of Narcotics Anonymous wants to assist professionals working in the addiction field in any way we can. If a member of the community is interested in attending a meeting to see how it may benefit their clients or patients, we encourage you to do so. Our meetings listed as “open” are accessible and free to anyone that is interested in learning more about NA recovery, and all are welcome.

That being said, Narcotics Anonymous is governed by a set of 12 Traditions that serve as guiding principles for our fellowship. These traditions help us to continue to provide a clear and concise message of recovery that serves to protect our groups and individual members. We encourage those interested in learning more about our way of life to attend a local meeting and see for themselves what NA is all about.

Narcotics Anonymous

Narcotics Anonymous (NA) is a global, community-based organization with a multi-lingual and multicultural membership. NA, which was founded in 1953, saw our membership grow minimally during our initial twenty years as an organization. Since the publication of our Basic Text in 1983, the number of members and meetings has increased dramatically. Today, NA members hold more than 43,900 meetings weekly in 127 countries. We offer recovery from the effects of addiction through working a twelve-step program, which may include regularly attending group meetings. The group atmosphere provides help from peers, and offers an ongoing support network for addicts who wish to pursue and maintain a drug-free lifestyle.

Our name, Narcotics Anonymous, is not meant to imply a focus on any particular drug. NA’s approach makes no distinction between drugs, including alcohol. Membership is free, and we have no affiliation with any organizations outside of NA including governments, religions, law enforcement groups, or medical and psychiatric associations. Through all of our service efforts, and our cooperation with others seeking to help addicts, we strive to reach a day when every addict in the world has an opportunity to experience our message of recovery in his or her own language and culture.

In keeping with our primary purpose, Narcotics Anonymous is always interested in cooperating with civic and business leaders, health care professionals, educators, clergy, and others in the community in order to continue spreading our message of hope.

Central Indiana Area and Community Professionals

Narcotics Anonymous in the Central Indiana Area consists of meetings per week throughout Marion, Johnson, Shelby, Hancock, Hamilton, Hendricks, and Morgan counties. The Central Indiana Area Service Committee has two subcommittees that are designed specifically to provide information and services to professionals and the community:

Public Relations Subcommittee – This subcommittee provides information about recovery from addiction through the Narcotics Anonymous (NA) fellowship. Additionally, NA members are often available to make panel presentations in educational facilities, treatment centers, and correctional facilities, as well as other public venues. The primary focus of this subcommittee is to reach out to the surrounding community, and to demonstrate how Narcotics Anonymous can be a valuable resource.

Hospitals and Institutions Subcommittee – This subcommittee carries the Narcotics Anonymous message of recovery to addicts who do not have full access to regular NA meetings. Meetings and/or presentations are provided to hospitals, jails, addiction treatment facilities, detox centers, and other various institutions. The primary purpose of this subcommittee is to allow recovering addicts to be of service, and to carry the message of hope to those addicts seeking freedom from active addiction.
